Weekly Newsletter June 23, 2025

Dear Democrats,

Great turnout to the Juneteenth parade and celebration! Good to see so many folks from Nacogdoches coming together for this event.  And good to show Donald “too many holidays” Trump that Americans honor Juneteenth and all that it symbolizes. Quiet Fourth of July with families picnicking in the park and fireworks after dark. Then to continue the No Kings Day momentum – “Good Trouble Lives On” rally July 17, anyone?

No newsletter next week, I will be helping our daughter move to Colorado.

4. Freedom Fest, July 4, starting at 5:30pm in Festival Park, 507 South Pecan Street! Will be a spectacular celebration of Independence Day put on by the Nacogdoches Jaycees. Come and enjoy an evening filled with fun activities, live music, delicious food, and a dazzling fireworks display that will light up the night sky. Not a great venue for voter registration (we tried) so just relax and enjoy.

5. Ready to hit the streets again? The No Kings Team, led by Indivisible and the 50501 group, is planning a “Good Trouble Lives On” rally, a national day of nonviolent action to respond to the attacks posed on our civil and human rights by the Trump administration and to remind them that in America, the power lies with the people. On July 17, the anniversary of Congressman John Lewis’s passing, they are organizing action across the country to defend our democracy and carry forward his legacy of Good Trouble. Let’s join them again!
